Self retracting lifelines or Type "II" retractable lanyards are one of the most versatile products for fall arrest situations. The lanyard retracts into the housing to keep it out of the way.

Safety Direct manufactures their units from durable polyamide 6/ABS plastic casing so they are lightweight. The integrated carrying handles on the larger units make them easier to handle.

Safety Direct can service the units at their Sherwood Park plant to increase their service life. Please note that any unit subjected to a fall MUST be returned for service.

The SDB030G retractable lifeline has a 30 foot (9 meter) galvanized wire rope lifeline for a total weight of 11.7 pounds (5.3 kilograms). Model SDB020G has a shorter 20 foot (6 meters) lifeline, which reduces the weight to 11.0 pounds (5.0 kilograms). Model SDB30S has the same line length as the SDB30G, but uses synthetic rope for for the lifeline, which reduces the weight to 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms).

Models with 50 foot (15 meter) lifelines have integrated carrying handles. The SDB050G uses galvanized wire rope and weighs 19 pounds (8.6 kilograms), while the SDB050S with synthetic rope is lighter at 16 pounds (7.3 kilograms).

Model SDB100G, weighing in at 35 pounds (16 kilograms), has a 100 foot (30 meter) galvanized wire rope lifeline and a cast aluminum casing with integrated carrying handles.
